Samsung to Set Up New Chip Plant in Philippines
June 20, 2008
Samsung recently revealed its plan to build a new chip plant at the Clark Special Economic Zone in Philippines, the Korean Times reported, adding that the company will invest US$ 1 billion into the plant. The plan, however, is still pending approval by the Philippine government. Should the approval be granted, the new plant - with a surface area of 30-hectares - is slated for construction by the end of 2008, according to the same source. Currently, Samsung also runs two plants in Philippines, namely Samsung Electronics Philippines Manufacturing Corporation and Samsung Electronics Philippines Corporation.
